Cambly is an ESL 1099 platform where international students connect to native or near native English speakers for lessons or free chat sessions. I have been on Cambly for several years.
Cambly pays per talk minute. The pay is $10.20 per talk hour or $0.17 per talk minute. Cambly has a Cambly Kids version of their platform. This pays $12.00 per talk hour or $0.20 per talk minute. Pay is done through Paypal and other methods. Pay is every Tuesday although international tutors may see their money after that day. It varies depending on which payment method the tutor chooses to get paid.
Scheduling a Priority Hour is the easiest way to get a student. There are blocks of one hour that run 24/7. When a block is in the light green as seen in the picture below, it is available for a tutor to take it and pays out a guarantee amount of paid minutes if a student does not show up for class.
Once a block of time has been selected, it changes color to a darker green as seen below.
Once a block of time has been completed and is due to pay out to the pending amount, it changes color once more…as seen below.
If a tutor does not complete the priority hour due to tech issues, the word completed will read Released. The tutor will not be paid out in that case.
