Preply is an ESL platform that is both similar and different from Cambly. Much like Cambly, Preply is a 1099 company. The tutors hired there, however set their own rates of pay. This seems like a better idea but Preply has two major drives in taking some of that income from the tutor.
Preply allows the tutor access to their money as soon as the student marks their paid lesson complete.
Preply allows the first lesson from each of your students to be 100 commission to THEM and not the tutor. After the first lesson, the student can subscribe to the tutor at their rate. Preply takes a cut of that rate depending on how many hours you tutor. Below is the chart.
